Multifaceted, Uttar Pradesh is one of the most popular tourist destinations in India. It is said that about half of the total tourists that visit India, also visit Agra, where World’s 8th wonder – Taj Mahal, resides. And it is in UP!

Fun facts about Uttar Pradesh

  • Uttar Pradesh is home to a tree called Parijaat whose leaves change color – it is said to be brought from the heavens by Lord Krishna.
  • UP’s boundary meets 9 other states and is home to numerous languages other than Hindi; like Bhojpuri, Awadhi and Braj Bhasha
  • From hundreds of years, the region is known as the land of Ganga and Jamuna.
  • Dudhwa National Park, which is in Lakhimpur Kheri is the only NP in UP.
  • UP has given various dance forms to India, like Rasiya, Kathak and Nautanki.

By Air

You can reach Uttar Pradesh by air from almost any state within the country. It has four major domestic airports – one each in Lucknow, Kanpur, Agra and Varanasi.  The airports in Varanasi and Lucknow also provide some international flights, and when it comes to domestic flights from major cities like Delhi, Bangalore and Mumbai, Lucknow Airport is the best bet.

 By Rail

India has the biggest railway network in the world. The main railway center in UP is Lucknow and other important names include Agra, Moradabad, Gonda, Sitapur, Varanasi and Jhansi.

By Road

Uttar Pradesh is connected to every part of the country through state, district and national highways. There are numerous routes offered by various state bus services that you can use if planning to arrive in UP by road.

Taxis

A taxi is the most widely used mode of transportation by tourists. It saves times and allows the travelers to make multiple stops with no inconvenience whatsoever.

October  is the best time to visit UP.

The month of October is the best time to visit UP, when the temperatures are mild. In November, the temperature becomes really cold; we insist that you pack a good stock of woolens in case your plan to stay for more than a month.

Monsoon, in the month of June, is also a good time to visit, temperatures do down because of rain, but it is good only if you are ready to travel in wet conditions.

Useful Information

Summer: In months from April to June, the temperature can reach up to 45 degrees

Winter: From Jan to March, the temperature ranges from 10-27 degrees.

So, plan accordingly if you are visiting UP in the months of Summer or winter season.
