What to see on the way:
In case you are planning a tour, here are a few places that we can include in the itinerary:
Though there is not much to see on the way, in Agra there are three noteworthy attractions – Taj Mahal, Fatehpur Sikri and Agra Fort – and they are enough to make your trip memorable.
Fatehpur Sikri: It is a town in Agra and was founded as Mughal Empire’s capital city back in 1571. Buland Darwaza, Kos Minar, Jama Masjid, Hiran Minar, Tomb of Salim Chisti, Birbal’s house and Panch Mahal are some of the noteworthy attractions in the old city of Fatehpur Sikri.
Agra Fort: Until 1638, Agra Fort was the main residence of the Mughal Emperor. It is UNESCO World Heritage Site and is just 2.5 kilometers away from Taj Mahal. Sprawled in 94 acres, the fort was home to about 500 buildings made in Gujrati and Bengali designs, but today only a few exist including the Akbar Gate, Delhi Gate and Bengali Mahal.
Taj Mahal: One of the seven wonders of the world, Taj Mahal is a tomb built by Shah Jahan in the memory of his beloved wife. Constructed in later half of the 17th Century, Taj Mahal is also UNESCO’s World Heritage Site.
